Still Waiting…

Jonathan was born one week and one day before his due date. Today is one week and one day before baby brother’s due date. We’ve been incredibly antsy and impatient this time around. We were still setting up the crib a few days before Jonathan was born. Now we just look at each other and say, “why won’t this kid come out?” Last Tuesday Renee had a doctor appointment and when the doctor checked her he first said, “My goodness, how are you walking?” Then he said that she was 3-4 cm’s dilated and her membranes (amniotic sac) were “bulging like an old tire about to blow.” Yes, our doctor is a hillbilly.

We were so convinced her water was going to break next time she sneezed we had Renee’s mom fly in on Thursday afternoon. It’s been great since she’s been here, but still no baby. We go in again on Tuesday to see what’s going on.

In other news, I’m back on the wagon again. Running that is. I gained the freshmen fifteen (again) when we moved back onto a college campus and started eating cafeteria food again. The freshmen fifteen quickly turned into 25 and I finally got frustrated with creeping back up towards the weight I was at a year and a half ago. So, no competition this time to get me on a strict diet and exercise routine, but I did make a New Year’s Resolution (in mid-March) to run 500 miles in 2008 or give up watching LOST. You can see the progress in my monthly goals in the red box to the right. So far I’m over 10% done.

Welp, I think that’s it. I’ll be sure to get pictures and info up as soon as baby brother gets here, so keep checking! Thanks for praying we’ll have PATIENCE these last few days! Last belly pics here.

Getting Close…

So, it’s been quite a while since I’ve updated y’all on what’s going on, and given that Renee is less than three weeks from her due date, I find that several of you are getting a little bit testy. In fact, just today my boss was telling me that she reads her RD’s blogs when procrastinating and I have not been providing good distractions. At least that’s how I remember what happened. Anyway, here’s what’s been going on the last few weeks. Continue reading Getting Close…

Finally, some pictures

Okay, I’ve done it. They are finally up. Sorry I’ve been such a slacker getting Renee’s belly shots up here. I’ve been badgered enough, and here they are. Also included are a bunch of the pictures from Baby Brother’s ultrasounds. We’re going in for another one next week, so keep checking back. While Renee feels like she’s huge, you still can’t even tell she’s pregnant from behind. Or from the front apparently…we’ve had a bunch of maintenance guys in our apartment this week fixing a few things and after talking with Renee for a few minutes, she turned around to look at something and one of the guys eye’s went wide. He didn’t even know she was pregnant until he saw her profile. Continue reading Finally, some pictures

Renee is finally writing in the blog….

Yes, this is finally me writing in the blog…. Ken has been bugging me for so long and after about a 20 minute tutorial of what I needed to do… well, it might be awhile before I write on this thing again. 🙂 I do not have the computer skills of my husband, nor do I necessarily want to get them. 🙂 But since Jonathan and I just got back from our trip to Florida to see my parents, and Ken wasn’t able to come with us 🙁 , that leaves me to be the one to write the post.

We left the day after Jonathan’s birthday and flew right out of Chattanooga to St. Pete/Clearwater airport. It was only a hour and ten minute flight… somewhat of a luxury compared to the 2.5 hour flights we were used to out of Denver. Jonathan was a great traveler and he LOVED every minute of being on the plane. He sat right by the window and never stopped talking the whole time.

What a week!

What a morning. I’m sitting in the Nashville airport waiting to catch a plane to Chicago. Already it’s been a stressful day, and it’s only 10:00. Renee and Jonathan left for Florida yesterday and I spent the rest of the day getting all of the stuff I done I needed to for work. But, as is prone to happen when I’m living the bachelor lifestyle, I procrastinated a bit and went to bed way too late. Then I must have turned my alarm off without waking up and ended up oversleeping by a half hour and had to scramble to get everything ready so I could catch the shuttle to Nashville. But I was on the road only 5 minutes later than I had planned and was feeling good…until I looked over at the passenger seat and saw the files I was supposed to drop off at the office before I left. And I was already down the mountain. Yeah, I cursed. Everything is fine now, though, so here I wait. Continue reading What a week!

Happy New Year!

Our Midwest Christmas tour is over, we’re back to the mountain in Georgia, and except for the occasional outbursts and singing of an almost-three-year-old, the college is quiet. Students don’t return until the 4th and classes resume on the 8th.

Except for the Packers losing to the Bears (and indirectly causing me to lose my Fantasy Football Championship to Renee’s brother, Jon), we had quite the enjoyable visit home. It was the first time we had been home over the holidays since we have been married and it was refreshing to be with family and friends, and, yes, even enjoy the cold and snow. Continue reading Happy New Year!

Giving Thanks

Almost a year and a half ago, Renee and I were completely blindsided while anticipating the birth of our next child-at a routine doctor appointment, we were told the baby did not have a heartbeat. After Renee went through two D&C’s to remove Brit, we both wrestled with how to grieve after such an unexpected and heartbreaking loss. In many ways, we’re still figuring that out…it’s been quite a journey for us and has been the most difficult year of our marriage. Even more difficult than the first year, and that included Renee locking me out on our 3rd floor apartment balcony! Continue reading Giving Thanks

Smokies, Halloween and Hospitals

Greetings, dear reader. Just a quick update here. I promised pictures from our trip to the Smokies and have finally delivered. A few weeks back, our great friends from Denver, Lief and Emily, came out for a long weekend and we drove up to Gatlinburg and rented a cabin for a few nights. It was great to spend some time with them and we had a fantastic time up in the Smokies.

Also, as you may or may not have been aware, Halloween has come and gone. While Jonathan didn’t go trick or treating, he did get all dressed up in his costume with his pal Katelyn and made every girl on campus go, “Awwww!” He loved having his costume on even though he was dripping with sweat.

Finally, we made a trip to the ER on Saturday after Renee spilled hot queso from Qdoba on her wrist. She only heated it up in the microwave for a minute. Fun times. For the record, she said it was more painful than childbirth. Either she’s not remembering things correctly or I had WAY too much sympathy for her after Jonathan was born. Anyway, here are the pictures (not of the nasty burn, but of other Fall activities). As always, you can check out the pictures we have up here by clicking on “Photos” on the top of the page.
